When AI Makes Things Up: Creativity and Facts Need Different Rules

In this Short, I look at the strange double role of AI invention.

If I am asking for a fictional scene, an unexpected detail can be useful. If I am asking what happened in history, the same freedom becomes a problem.

That is why I want the task to make the boundary clear. Am I exploring possibilities, or asking for an account supported by evidence?

For creative work, I can invite variations and then choose what fits. For factual work, I need to compare claims with sources and leave room for “I don't know.”

A practical exercise is to ask for a fictional explanation and a factual explanation as separate tasks. Notice how similar their confidence can sound.

The voice of the answer is not the evidence. Knowing which kind of task I am doing helps me decide what to welcome, what to question, and what to verify.
