The Best-Fit Line as a First Picture of AI Training
A line through a set of points is a small enough picture to hold in my head.
It is also a useful entry point to model training. Examples provide a pattern, and a model is adjusted to fit what those examples show.
A best-fit line does not need to pass through every point. That is a helpful distinction: learning a pattern is different from perfectly representing every example.
Real language models involve far more dimensions and complexity than this sketch. The picture is a way in, not a diagram of everything happening inside them.
Draw a few points and imagine where a line might go. Then add a point far away from it. Would the line change? What would a prediction near that new point mean?
Those questions make room for uncertainty and mistakes from the beginning. I would rather keep that limitation visible than let a simple analogy become an explanation of more than it can support.
