The Weekend Dictation Experiment Behind Tucky

The Weekend Dictation Experiment Behind Tucky

I did not want another monthly subscription just to turn speech into text. That frustration became the starting point for a weekend experiment with my Claude coding agent.

In this Short, I tell the compact version of the build: a hotkey dictation app that became Tucky.

What interests me about that starting point is its size. The first question is concrete: can I press a key, say something, and get the words where I need them? There is a visible result to react to.

A personal prototype is still software that needs inspection. Generated code should be reviewed, the basic interaction tested, and the handling of recordings and transcripts understood before the tool becomes part of everyday work.

If you want to try something similar, begin with the awkward moment rather than a feature list. Choose one input, one action, and one result. Make that slice understandable enough to test and change.

That is the part of the story I would borrow: turn a recurring frustration into a small experiment, then let actual use shape what comes next.
