Claude vs ChatGPT: My Pick (Still)
I use Claude and ChatGPT interchangeably, so this isn't a grand verdict on which one is best. It's just where my preference lands right now, based on the way I use them and one very ordinary task that made the difference.
A personal pick, not a leaderboard
For me, Claude feels more creative, and I find it understands my prompts better. ChatGPT feels like the stronger executor in my experience, especially when I need it to use a computer. Those are personal impressions from working with both, not benchmark results or a claim that one will behave the same way for everyone.
That distinction matters. “Which model is better?” sounds like one question, but in practice I'm judging a few different things: what kind of response I get, whether it seems to understand what I asked, and whether it can carry out the task in front of me. My answer can change depending on which of those matters most in the moment.
One task made the difference
The concrete example in the Short is filling in my app's store listing. ChatGPT did that for me. Claude couldn't complete that task, and it couldn't generate images in that moment either. That's the experience behind my comparison. I don't need to turn it into a claim about every version, every setup, or every task. It was simply a useful contrast in the work I was doing that day.
So there are two things I want to keep separate: the way I prefer to think with a tool, and the task I need it to execute. For creativity and understanding my prompts, I still lean toward Claude. For that store-listing task and computer use, ChatGPT was the one that got further for me.
What I mean by “still”
“Claude, still” is the short version of that preference, as of October 20. That doesn't cancel out the practical win ChatGPT had on the store listing. It just means that, overall, Claude remains my pick at this point, while ChatGPT has a clear place in the mix for the kind of execution I showed.
This is a snapshot of my own use, not advice to pick a side. If you're comparing tools, the useful question may be less “Which one wins?” and more “What am I asking it to do, and what counts as a good result for me?” My answer could shift as my work shifts. For now, I keep both in rotation and make the call task by task.
Watch the Short above for the quick version of that comparison.
